MSA TAKES PART IN DROUGHT RELIEF PROJECT

We all know that water is life and yet it is often taken for granted. Many farming areas in South Africa are experiencing severe drought for the 8th consecutive year, leaving them unable to sustain their farms as they are unable to supply their livestock with food and water. In addition to this, agriculture is one of the largest commercial sources of food supply in the country as well as the world with its exports - a much needed commodity for the economy. Boere Droogte Hulp SA is a non-profit organisation founded in 2019 with the goal of offering a lifeline to those farmers in need, relying solely on donations and sponsorships. As specialists in material handling for the agriculture sector, Manitou SA jumped at the opportunity to assist in their recent project which took place from 6 November to 8 November 2020. Farmers across the country donated 26 truckloads of feed, bales, water and other necessities to the struggling farmers in Beaufort West in the Western Cape province. The trucks travelled in convoy to the final destination and Manitou SA assisted by offering a MXT840 telehandler to assist in offloading the many bales and other items from the trucks using a bale grab handler attachment, bucket and forks. Many farmers expressed their gratitude and Manitou SA was proud to have played a part in this project.
